Why your practice does NOT make perfect

Do this instead!

Hey Verbalizer,

Have you ever noticed something strange?

The more you rehearse what to say...

The harder it becomes to actually say it.

I was thinking about this after a conversation with a client recently.

She'd spent hours practicing her points for an important meeting…

Scripting every word…

Running through it again and again.

But when her moment came? She froze.

Not because she didn't know her content…

But because the script had become a cage.

Here's what I've noticed after years of working with brilliant women:

This isn't about lack of preparation. It's about a different kind of pressure.

The kind that comes when we attach our worth to getting the words "exactly right."

That pressure?

It creates tension in your body.

Constricts your throat.

Makes your mind race faster than your mouth can follow.

But what if we've been focusing on the wrong kind of preparation?

What if it's not about rehearsing WHAT to say...

But about preparing HOW to be present?

Think about it...

  • Your tone

  • Your energy

  • Your intention

  • Your body speaking its own language

These are where the real power lives.

For me, true preparation looks like journaling to create mental space.

But your practice might look different.

In fact, it should look different because you're different.

So here's my question for you:

When you're preparing to speak up, are you practicing words... or are you practicing presence? 💫

Let that sit with you for a moment.

Have a great bank holiday weekend 😁
